Since today, December 3rd, 2019, is the United Nations’ International Day of Persons with Disabilities, our team wanted to take a moment to remind everyone out there how important inclusion is in everyday life. Not just for websites, not just for restaurants, and not just for places that are legally required to be accessible. The theme of this year’s observance is “Promoting the participation of persons with disabilities and their leadership,” and the fact that there has to be a day to call attention to this inequality is something we sincerely hope isn’t necessary for the future. It should be a given that anyone no matter their ability level should have the chance to lead and succeed.
On an organizational note, as we continue to develop UserWay’s integrated accessibility solutions, we’d like to get even more input from everyday users who need accessibility tools. What frustrates you? What tools or accommodations would make visiting sites easier? Because you are our leaders, and the reason we do what we do each and every day. Making a widget is great, but actually helping tear down those barriers is a bigger deal to us than you can possibly imagine. Sound like some marketing speak? It isn’t.
If you are interested in learning more about why we are so passionate about what we do, our CEO, Allon and Communications Manager, Alexa, were recent guests on the Trends with Benefits podcast. In short – not only do we love hearing from users that are helped by our free widget, but it’s a tool that helps some of our team out too.
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to make the world just a bit more accessible in whatever way you have. We look forward to creating a barrier-free future together.
