UserWay Plugin Installation for Magento in 5 Short Steps

You want your Magento website to reach the widest audience. Which is why your website needs to be as accessible as possible for all your potential clients. With this installation guide, you can install the UserWay accessibility widget onto your website and help you get there. By adding UserWay’s widget to your website made with Magento, ADA compliance is one step closer.

Step 1: Register your Magento website with UserWay

Register your Magento website with UserWay by clicking on the blue “Start Free Trial” button at the top right of the UserWay homepage. Complete the registration steps until you get to the page with your unique code snippet.

Next, copy your unique code to your clipboard or save it as a text file. If you misplace your code, you can find it by going to your UserWay dashboard and selecting “My Embed Script” at the menu at the top of the page. That script is your unique code and can be copied from there.  You can also find it in the welcome email we sent you when you registered your website, along with your login information.

If you have multiple websites registered with UserWay, you can add your new website to your list, and it will use the same embed code as the other websites.

Step 2: Enter your unique code into Magento

In the left menu bar on your Magento dashboard, select “Content” and then click on “Configuration” in the submenu header under “Design.”

On the resulting page, find the store you want to edit and click on the “Edit” link on the right side of the page. On the following page, scroll to the bottom until you see the “Other Settings” menu. Open the “Footer” settings and paste your unique code into the text field for “Miscellaneous HTML.”

1 - Go to content -configuration - edit

Don’t forget to save your changes, and select the “Save configuration” button at the top right of the page.

2 - Go to footer - paste code and save

Step 3: Clear the cache on your website

Go back to your Magento dashboard and select “System” from the left menu bar, and then “Cache Management” in the submenu under “Tools.”

A new page will open. Select the “Flush Magento Cache” button on the top right of the page.

3 - Select system and then cash management - flush magento cache

Your Magento accessibility plugin is all set! Go ahead and publish your Magento store.

Step 4: Customize your widget

You can customize your widget options; such as color, location, icon, and more through your UserWay widget or by logging into your UserWay dashboard at manage.userway.org.

All your customization options are available using both methods.

Step 5: Consider upgrading your Magento widget

Depending on your needs, consider upgrading to the UserWay PRO Widget. This will allow for more robust accessibility and customization options.
