How to Install UserWay’s Widget
Step 1: Register Your Site
As usual, the first thing you need to do is register your site at userway.org, at the top right of the page.
Complete all the listed steps until you get your unique code snippet. You can find a detailed tutorial on how to get your unique code snippet here.
- Copy your code snippet to your clipboard or save it to a text file. It is just text. We’ve also sent you a welcome email with this code. If you have already registered for a previous site, you can add your new site to your list, and it will use the same code.
Step 2: Sign In to Your UserWay Dashboard at userway.org.
Sign in using your credentials.
Step 3: Find the “My Embed Script” Option
Go to the top menu, find “My embed script” and copy the script or code that you’ll see there. This script is actually your unique code.
Trouble finding your sign-in? You’ll see sign-in credentials in the welcome email as well. Grab your unique code snippet and let’s go.
Step 4: Open the Root Folder
Now, open the root folder of your site using a plain text editor such as Notepad, Sublime or Atom.
Step 5: Find the Body Closing Tag
You will need to place your unique code on all your HTML files to make the widget appear everywhere on your site. Open the first HTML file by clicking on the file name.
Scroll all the way down until you find the body closing tag. Place the cursor right above the tag and click enter several times to make some space on top of it.
Step 6: Paste Your Code
Now paste your code using ctrl+v or cmd+v on your keyboard.
You can also access this command on the top menu under “Edit”. Once your unique code is pasted to your HTML file, save it by clicking ctrl+s or cmd+s on your keyboard.
Also, you can select this command in the top menu under “Edit” and then “Save”. Repeat these steps with the rest of your HTML files. Preview your site to make sure you have installed the widget correctly.
Remember to upload your site to your server using the File Transfer protocol to make your changes effective.
