Dreamweaver Accessibility is Easy with UserWay

Increasing digital accessibility of your Dreamweaver website is easy with UserWay’s AI-Powered Accessibility Solution. The tool will kickstart your Dreamweaver accessibility project to offer equal access to website content. This guide will walk you through installing UserWay’s Dreamweaver plugin, and help you begin removing accessibility barriers.

Step 1: Register Your Dreamweaver Website with UserWay

Start by registering your Dreamweaver website by pressing the “Start Free Trial” button at the top of the UserWay homepage. Next, follow all the registration steps to receive your unique code snippet. Once you have the text, you have the option to either copy it to your clipboard, or save it as a text file. Additionally, the exclusive code can also be located in the email sent to you upon registration of your website with UserWay.

If you’ve already registered a website with UserWay, there’s no need to re-register. You can include the newly added website in your list, and utilize the same unique code that you have been using.

Now, check your welcome email or login to your UserWay dashboard to find your code, and access “My Embed Script” in the upper right corner of the menu. Your exclusive code will be located, ready to be copied and pasted into your website to get your Dreamweaver plugin.

If you have difficulties in accessing your UserWay dashboard, you can retrieve your login credentials in the welcome email sent to you upon registration.

Step 2: Paste Your Unique Code in the Dreamweaver Website Platform

Before proceeding with the next step, ensure you’re in the “Code” view on your Dreamweaver website. If not, you will notice three tabs at the top of your screen, “Code,” “Split,” and “Live.” Click on the “Code” tab.

Next, open all your Dreamweaver website’s HTML files. If your site is already set up and you have existing pages, your HTML files will be in a list on the right-hand side of the page – this is your “Files” window. You must paste your unique code inside all HTML files in the Files window list. Start by opening one of your HTML files.

1 - Open all html files

2 - scroll down until body closing tag - paste code and save

Next, go to the first HTML file you have opened, and then to the top left corner. Scroll down through the code until you see the body closing tag </body>.

Place your cursor right before the body closing tag </body>, and press ‘Enter’ multiple times to make some space. Click in the area you have just created, and paste your code.

Now, repeat the same steps in all your site’s HTML files. Once you’ve added the code to all the HTML pages in your Files list, go to the top menu, click “File,” and then “Save.” You’re all set!

Step 3: Preview, Publish, and Customize Your Dreamweaver Accessibility Widget

Go ahead and preview your Dreamweaver website to ensure the widget is installed and functioning properly on your website. Don’t forget to upload your website to the server.

You can also customize your accessibility widget options by either signing in directly through your widget, or by going to UserWay.org. Either way, you’ll find the customization options in both places.

It could be worth considering the UserWay Pro widget for additional accessibility and compliance features.
